WHAT WE DO
We are a friendly and informal centre,
offering support, resources and information
on all aspects of mental
health.
Anyone is welcome to call in during
open
hours,
and stay for a few minutes or for the day:
we provide refreshments,
relaxation,
groups,
newspapers, computers with internet access, chess,
scrabble and other games, books and leaflets, comfortable chairs,
gardening, outings, information on
training and employment,
and more.
You can just turn up or phone or email for
further information,
and you choose how often you come and what you get involved with.
We realise it may be a bit difficult coming in to
the centre
for the first time. If you would like to, give us a ring first,
and we would be happy to meet you outside the Causeway Centre
and come in with you.
There are two development workers available to offer
one-to-one support,
though often people find it equally useful
to talk with other members who
have been
through similar experiences.
Apart from a wide range of books and leaflets on many mental health matters, we link with local organisations involved in training, career advice and employment, and in
supported housing.
Groups on anxiety, depression, self-esteem and
anger management are put on from time to time, according to demand.
Other recent activities include tai chi, head
and hand massage, making rather beautiful Christmas plates, painting
Christmas tealights, various other arts and crafts, a Scrabble competition
day, and the building of this website.
Everything that happens at the Causeway centre
is done in a supportive and safe environment. We respect and draw on
the strength of each individual, and promote self-help.
Members'
meetings are held regularly
for those who would like to play a part
in the
day-to-day running of the centre.
And if you have
difficulty getting in to the Centre,
we are happy to respond to emails if you would like to know more
about what is going on or would just like
to have an email conversation.
